- Pack an overnight bag containing all the essentials.
- Wrap your breakables (dishes, glasses, etc.) in clothing to save on bubble wrap.
- In addition to labeling what’s in your boxes, add what room they’ll be going into, as well. Boxes should be able to close without caving or bulging.
- Take a picture of how your electronics are connected so you can remember where the wires go.
- Place a cotton pad into your powder cosmetics to keep them from breaking.
- Cover the openings of your toiletries with saran wrap, then put the tops back on to prevent leaking.
- Pack plates vertically.
- Make sure everything is completely packed before the movers show up.
- Take photos of your cleaned out residence in order to get your proper deposit back. (Tip: Use a bar of soap to fill your nail holes).
- If possible, arrive at your new residence before the movers to pre-clean.
- Defrost your fridge at least 1 day prior to moving. All other appliances should be disconnected prior to the movers arriving.
- Allow plenty of time to clean out closets, drawers, etc. to dispose of items you do not need.
- Items valued at more than $100/lb should be disclosed to your Move & Store representative; they will assist in making sure that you are properly insured for your move.
